Fiona Quote of the Week

Talking to her plants on the windowsill:

"What are you doing? You are watching a show? Oh, can I sit and watch with you? Oh, it's a grown-up show? Well, okay."

Then to me:

"Mom, can I take my plant to play?"

Halloween Videos!

Here are a couple episodes from trick-or-treating and the like. Pretty cute expressions on our little girl. Considering the size of our candy stash, I was glad that she was interested in doing "candy experiments" to use some of it up. Did you know that if you put M&Ms in water, the m's float to the top??

We're off to trick-or-treat!

Here's a fall installment - finally! I'm putting the first round of Halloween photos in this post, and will follow with some videos by tomorrow. There were a lot of fun moments for our little ghost of a girl - we went trick-or-treating Saturday with our neighbors in our buildings, and then hit the zoo for a Halloween event on Sunday afternoon. Fiona enjoyed her loot and got completely wiped out... in a good way. Enjoy!

House Tour

It has been SO hot - over 100 everyday for weeks now! Here is one of the things we did to keep ourselves busy and cool. It's been a lot of fun for Fi to climb around in and write messages on. I'm glad she's remained cheerful, but we will be welcoming some cooler temps whenever they chose to arrive!

Photos to go with Quote of the Week

Waiting for MN

For the past few weeks, it seems like all we're doing is waiting for our big trips of the summer and fall. While Joe is staying plenty busy with his French course, our life has slowed down with the end of some school year activities. With the heat, even park playdates are less than appealing. I'd just LOVE a day with a high below 95. MN here we come! Fiona is certainly up to her usual antics, however. Here is the latest sampling!

Here we are at our grocery store during "Argentina-fest". Fiona finds this photo very strange to look at. I think it's the adult bodies that don't quite match up with the faces she knows.

One morning I had folded laundry in a bag. Fiona started laying out the clothes without me noticing, and then told me she was "matching" the outfits. Pretty good job!

Icing her buns after a bump on the floor. Obviously the silliness of this situation cured more discomfort than any cooling properties of the freezer.

When the battle against the nap has been lost...

...and when she's won. Having "quiet time" and listening to books on tape :)

I believe there's a "baby in her tummy"??

We're finding ways to spend our days, but we miss you all and can't wait for the next visit!

This week in review

Here is our youngest yoga enthusiast doing a crescent pose. We love "Yoga for Families". It is really relaxing and fun to do partner poses with her... I couldn't get a pic, but she is also adorable in seated and ready for breathing and "namaste". Aunt Tracey would be proud..

During "PAL time" at our house this week, Fiona and her two friends created a boat out of blocks. Then they cruised around and stopped at the library, grocery store, swimming pool, etc. They are also wearing "dress-ups". Fun morning!

Fiona also had Anna over for dinner and a bath... see the cuties in towels above!

"She sure eats with gusto!"

This is what my friend Rebecca told Joe and I when we came to pick Fiona up after our most recent dinner date. Rebecca is a great friend of mine, and Fiona loves to stay at her house and play with her 4 children, ages 8 months to 6 years. It's always a party over there! Note that Calder (below, 8 months) is arguably a neater eater than Fi. Her love of spaghetti is still intact! Lucky for us, a bath was on the agenda after they ate...

Mom needs to put on her clothes

If I could just do that each morning first thing, I swear we'd really be off and running around here. Instead, I am always tempted to check in with friends on the computer, read at least a few pages in whatever book I'm plugging away at, or find and drink the cup of coffee that I misplaced somewhere around the home while finding Fiona's lost something or other. I'm not going anywhere while I'm in my pajamas anyway.

Fiona knows this, and how she entertains herself in the meantime is reason enough not to feel guilty about my slow start. Here's the evidence:
